The purpose of Health
Connect Tasmania is to improve services through the delivery of integrated electronic health information.
Durable and defined partnerships are crucial to the success of Health
Connect Tasmania. Our stakeholder network includes GPs, pharmacists, public hospitals, private hospitals, the aged care sector, and consumer groups.
Now in the final stage of its program, Health
Connect Tasmania's funding for 2007-09 includes resourcing eHealth projects which will:
- improve the availability of information via an electronic Patient Care Record system interoperable between ambulance vehicles and Department of Emergency Medicine;
- create an electronic Patient Discharge Medication Record that is produced at the point of hospital discharge, and sent electronically to the GPs;
- complete the Secure Electronic Clinical Communication Initiative which facilitates secure electronic clinical communications between GPs and specialists; and
- implement a secure electronic messaging network between community pharmacy, general practice and aged care sectors.
Health
Connect Tasmania is funded by the Commonwealth Department of Health and Ageing, and is delivered through the Tasmanian Department of Health and Human Services. There is additional information about the
